The Mahalia Jackson Musical’ traces the rise of the celebrated gospel singer Mahalia Jackson from poverty in New Orleans to international success as one of the most influential gospel artists in the world. Her story as told by Mahalia herself and members of her family takes the audience on an uplifting journey through her career and her involvement in the Civil Rights movement culminating with Martin Luther King’s historic March on Washington where she performed in front of 250,000 people.

Featured in the musical are such songs as ‘Down By The Riverside’, ‘Summertime’, ‘When the Saint’s Go Marchin’ In’ and many of Mahalia’s well known gospel songs.
